Sam helped me to look at my finances now and my needs for the future. He took into account that I was not particularly knowledgable about financial matters and explained options and pathways very well.

I hope to in the future.

What could they have done better?

I have seen several different advisors over the 3 meetings. I raised this and Sam has said that this will be taken into account next year and hope to provide some consistency.

Review for Roger Milbourn

July 2021

What were the circumstances that caused you to look for a financial adviser?

Considering transferring out of a final salary pension scheme to allow earlier retirement.

How did Roger help you?

Took me clearly through the options following all the relevant guidance documentation, was independent and didn't seek to influence my decision. Roger pointed out that in many situations the final salary pension was the best option. For my particular circumstance (earlier retirement plus the backup of another smaller fixed pension) I decided to transfer out into a drawdown stocks and shares pension, Roger arranged the product and made the transfer simple. We have regular meetings where we review the investment strategy in relation to risk and Roger has produced cashflow forecasts covering retirement income/expenditure.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Very much so, I'm happy with the projected returns compared to the final salary pension and that I am in control of my own pension, and accept the risks associated with the stock market where the returns cannot be guaranteed , unlike the final salary scheme.

What could they have done better?

I'm unfamiliar with dealing with these type of decisions (except for having a mortgage) but can't think of any areas that were not done well.
