Aspirations has started the journey to becoming carbon-neutral with our first step being to gain a better understanding of what its carbon footprint is, measuring emissions, and trying to become more efficient. Beyond going paperless, recycling, and implementing a cycle to work scheme, we know there’s much more to be done.
What we’ve done so far
2 years ago, we started with baby steps and encouraged the team to only print if strictly necessary. We’ve introduced a strict recycling policy in the office that we don’t always get right, but that we’re working really hard on perfecting.
Back in April, we launched the Cycle to Work Scheme allowing employees to obtain a commuter bike that is tax-free and paid by way of salary sacrifice.
We’ve now begun the process of understanding what our carbon footprint is by measuring our emissions. We’ve started to identify and gather inputs like our building’s energy sources, how our team commute, what equipment we use all the way to how many cups of tea we’re making. From here, we can learn in what ways we’re contributing to global warming with the aim of finding ways to then reduce it and offset what we produce.
